Where
exactly is Sherborne?
Sherborne is about half way between Bournemouth
to the south on the coast and Bristol to the north,
both approximately an hours drive away. Sherborne
is 120 miles west of central London.
How
do I get to Sherborne?
If you are coming from London you can
normally drive in about two and a half hours maximum
via the M3, A303 to Wincanton without turn offs then
follow the signs to Sherborne. From all other parts
of Britain you can follow the M4/M5 to Bridgewater
or Taunton exits.
There is an hourly train service from London Waterloo
to Sherborne throughout most of the day. For overseas
visitors there is a direct bus railway transfer for
London Heathrow to Woking Station and then direct
train to Sherborne or it is approximately a two-hour
drive to Sherborne with a rental car.
I
am coming by train – do I have far to walk from
the train station?
Printers Court and Teachers Cottage are
both less than a quarter of a mile from Sherborne
Station.
Do
your properties have parking?
No. There is limited off street parking
opposite Teachers Cottage and a long stay car park
about 6 minutes walk from Printers Court. Cheap Street
is pedestrian access only from 12 am to 4.30 pm.
What
do I need to bring with me?
Just your personal belongings –
linen and towels are provided in all of our holiday
apartments and cottages. You can always bring any
VHS tapes or DVDs you might want to watch as all of
our holiday rentals are equipped with a VHS/DVD player
– and a selection of tapes and dvds for you
to enjoy!
Can
I bring my dog?
Guests staying in 52 Cheap Street are
allowed to bring their pets with them, however unfortunately
our other properties do not have the facilities to
accomodate
pets.
Do
I need to hire bed linen or bring my own?
Neither – bed linen is provided
free of charge.
Where
do I collect the keys?
If you are arriving between 9 am and
5.30 pm Monday to Friday they can be collected from
the Casterbridge Tours Office, which is located close
to our holiday cottages and apartments. At all other
times we will arrange for you to be met by someone
or mail them to you in advance.
I
will be arriving late – can you arrange for
some supplies to be left?
Yes. When you pay your balance we will
give you the opportunity of paying an extra £10,
£15 or £20 for supplies to be purchased
in advance as per your instructions and left in the
cottage or apartment ready for you. There is no charge
for this service.
Will
I have far to go to buy food?
All of our rental properties are situated
very close to local ammenities. There is a Somerfields
and Sainsburys within a 5-minute walk of Printers
Court and Rose Cottage and about 8 minutes from Teachers
Cottage.
What
will be in the kitchen?
As the properties are self catered the
kitchen will be sensibly equipped for the minimum
number of guests including saucepans, crockery, cutlery,
and glassware. All of our holiday lets have a microwave,
iron and ironing board, cooker and fridge. Any specialist
items such as a wok or griddle should be brought with
you.
Do
I have to pay extra for heating and electricity?
Certainly not!
Do
your properties have a bath and shower?
All of our holiday lets have a good quality
shower over the bath.
Do
your properties have a cot?
No. If a cot or highchair is required
please bring your own.
Do
your properties have a TV?
Yes, all our rental properties include
a television and VHS/DVD player.
I
prefer not to cook when I am on holiday - any suggestions
on where to eat?
Of course! The visitors’ manual
in each property contains suggestions regarding both
local and regional attractions. If you click on attractions
on the column to the left you will find information
and links to a host of attractions in Sherborne that
will assist you in planning your holiday in advance.
There are also local guidebooks in each of the rental
properties for you to refer to.
I
am a keen walker – any suggestions for me?
For sure! One of the Directors of LPI
has led many walking groups in the Himalaya, Alps,
Africa and South Africa so you can be sure we will
be able to help you with some ideas for exploring
the beautiful countryside around Sherborne. Suggestions
and route notes can be found in each property.

How
can I pay?
You can pay by debit card (no charge),
credit card (2.5% charge) or cheque. For any bookings
to be taken in the next 14 days payment must be by
debit or credit card. For overseas Guests we can offer
bank transfer details. Cheques are made payable to
LPI Ltd.
Will
I need to pay a security deposit?
There is a £250 security deposit
required for each stay.
Will
there be cleaning materials in the property?
As a minimum there will be a vacuum cleaner,
brush, washing up liquid and bin liners in each property.
What
if something goes wrong whilst I’m on holiday?
Please contact Sherborne Cottages and
Apartments in the case of any problem as we are always
available to deal with emergencies.
How
quickly do I get my damage deposit back?
We will normally mail your refund cheque
within 72 hours of departure. It there is any problem
regarding damage we will endeavour to contact you
within this period.
What
if I need to cancel?
We recommend that all Guests take out
holiday cancellation insurance. We can provide information
on this or you can use your own contacts. Should you
need to cancel you will loose your deposit payment
and may be liable for part of the balance payment
if the property is not subsequently booked. Please

What
if I want to make a booking for next year?
We can provisionally reserve properties
for you up to 2 years in advance but cannot guarantee
their availability until that year’s brochure
is printed. Please call our Office if you would like
to do this. Upon receipt of a 25% deposit we can reserve
properties for you for 2010 [‘next year’
- if you leave a date in there is a chance this will
get overlooked and then be out of date] at this year’s
rates. This does not include Short Breaks.
