Sherborne
Sherborne,
situated 120 miles west of London in North Dorset
close to the Somerset Dorset border is one of the
showpieces of the West of England and is one of the
most attractive small towns in England. There are
few, if any, other towns that can boast such a wealth
of medieval buildings, 16th and 17th century houses,
ancient inns and almshouses as well as its magnificent
Abbey, famous historic school and two castles.
Many
of England’s most famous attractions can be
readily reached within an hours drive of Sherborne,
including Europe’s most famous prehistoric monument
at Stonehenge, Roman and Georgian
Bath, the majestic cathedrals at Wells
and Salisbury, Ancient Glastonbury,
Wookey Hole Caves, Corfe
Castle and the Stately homes at Wilton,
Longleat with its Safari Park and
Stourhead with its magnificent Gardens.
The magnificent Dorset Coastline containing both golden
sands and spectacular cliff scenery and the beach
resorts of Bournemouth and Weymouth
are also within a 60 minute drive.
The
area around Sherborne was immortalized by Thomas Hardy
who used Wessex as the setting for all his novels
and neither the wonderful scenery nor the beautiful
villages with old thatched cottages and half timbered
houses set amidst richly wooded and fertile valleys
that Hardy so lovingly described have changed. So
as well as offering its own attractions Sherborne
is ideally located for exploring Thomas Hardy’s
Wessex. For those who enjoy walking North Dorset and
South Somerset offer a wealth of beautiful walks including
many that start from Sherborne itself.
There
are hourly departures from London Waterloo for the
two and a quarter rail journey to Sherborne which
can be readily reached by road and rail from all parts
of the UK.
Whether
you want a base for exploring the West Country or
for a relaxing holiday or weekend break year round
it will be difficult to find a more attractive choice
than historic Sherborne and our self catering holiday
rentals are perfectly situated within or close to
the town centre.
Our
Properties
Unlike
many rental and holiday letting companies Sherborne
Cottages and Apartments only lists holiday properties
that we own, which has many important advantages for
our clients. We are directly responsible ourselves
for the preparations and cleanliness of each holiday
cottage rather than relying on a third party. We can
immediately confirm reservation requests, we can be
flexible in regard to arrival and departure times,
duration of stays and personal one-off requests. We
are available to answer your questions with first
hand information and we can immediately respond and
attend to any enquiries both during the planning and
duration of your holiday. We currently own four self
catering rental properties in Sherborne – three
of which are available as holiday lets in 2009.
Our
self catering accommodation in Sherborne is perfect
for a short break or holiday in Dorset. Whether you
want a cosy cottage for your holiday in Dorset or
a spacious apartment for a weekend in the West Country
we have a holiday rental that's right for you. Should
you be looking for a week's accommodation over half
term, a longer holiday in the summer or a short weekend
or mid-week break at any time of the year we have
the flexibility to suit your dates.
